OBD-2 socket
The OBD-2 socket is also known as Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC).
Pinout OBD-2 socket (seen from the front, as you see it vehicle installed):
- Pin 1 - Manufacturer specific.
- Pin 2 - J1850 Bus+
- Pin 3 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet TX+ (DoIP)
- Pin 4 - Vehicle ground
- Pin 5 - Signal Ground
- Pin 6 - CAN High (J-2284)
- Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Output (K-Line)
- Pin 8 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet enable (DoIP)
- Pin 9 - Manufacturer specific
- Pin 10 - J1850 Bus
- Pin 11 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet TX- (DoIP)
- Pin 12 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet RX+ (DoIP)
- Pin 13 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet RX- (DoIP)
- Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)
- Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L output or 2nd K-Line, depending on vehicle
- Pin 16 - Battery (+) voltage
The OBD-2 socket, usually purple in color, is usually located near the steering wheel on passenger cars, usually on the lower left side of the footwell:
On motorcycles, the OBD-2 socket is usually found under the seat:
