The OBD-2 socket is also known as Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC).

Pinout OBD-2 socket (seen from the front, as you see it vehicle installed):

  * Pin 1 - Manufacturer specific.
  * Pin 2 - J1850 Bus+
  * Pin 3 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet TX+ ([[DoIP]])
  * Pin 4 - Vehicle ground
  * Pin 5 - Signal Ground
  * Pin 6 - [[CAN]] High (J-2284)
  * Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Output ([[K-Line]])
  * Pin 8 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet enable (DoIP)
  * Pin 9 - Manufacturer specific
  * Pin 10 - J1850 Bus
  * Pin 11 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet TX- (DoIP)
  * Pin 12 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet RX+ (DoIP)
  * Pin 13 - Manufacturer specific / Ethernet RX- (DoIP)
  * Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)
  * Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L output or 2nd K-Line, depending on vehicle
  * Pin 16 - Battery (+) voltage

The OBD-2 socket, usually purple in color, is usually located near the steering wheel on passenger cars, usually on the lower left side of the footwell:

On motorcycles, the OBD-2 socket is usually found under the seat:
